Spec and blueprint work lands on this contractor's desk every month and gets no-bid, because nobody there runs takeoffs.

Revenue is around $30M, up roughly 10% on last year, with crews booked out, this hire is about upside, not gaps.

Projects run $15K to $3M, from boiler rooms to distribution centres.

Your incentive is tied to job profitability, so accurate numbers pay you.

Opportunity Overview

A family-owned commercial roofing contractor operating across New England from a single Rhode Island base, with most work in Massachusetts and additional coverage in Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.

Revenue is tracking around $30M against roughly $27M last year. The model is private, relationship-led commercial re-roofing and service, approximately 85% production and 15% service, with the service side growing quickly. Delivery runs through in-house staff plus around ten subcontractor crews of six to eight, supported by dedicated service, metal shop and finance functions.

Customers include schools, warehouses, distribution centres, shopping plazas and places of worship, both private and public. Ownership is long-term and independent, with no private equity involvement and a stated goal of regional market share rather than national scale.

Your Role

• Take spec and blueprint opportunities from drawings through takeoff, pricing, bid and award
• Own bid packages, submittals and preconstruction requirements end to end
• Decide what is worth bidding and what is not
• Hand awarded work into operations and stay close enough to protect the margin you priced
• Track budgets, job performance and profitability on your own projects
• Represent the business in GC and project meetings

Key Requirements

• Genuine blueprint takeoff and construction estimating experience, sales estimating alone will not cover it
• Working understanding of how a spec-driven project moves from bid to award to production
• Able to read and price from drawings and specifications independently
• Commercial roofing preferred; strong estimators from GC, flooring or another trade will be taught the roofing
